Kayla Elsahili

LCSW, Ph.D.

Licensed Mental Health Therapist

Clinical Supervisor

Hi, I’m Dr. Kayla Elsahili—thank you for being here. I know finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, and taking the first step into therapy takes courage. I strive to create a space that feels approachable, genuine, and personalized, because no two clients are ever the same.

Your diagnosis is only a word; you are you, and our work together is built around that. My clients often describe me as direct, curious, and real, because I believe the most impactful therapy happens when you feel truly seen and heard as a person, not just a patient.

Outside of the therapy room, you can usually catch me hanging out with my family and friends, singing or in a Pilates class, and trying out new coffee shops and restaurants.

CREDENTIALS & APPROACH

I have a Masters in Clinical Social Work, a PhD in Clinical Human Sexuality, and I am licensed in the state of Oregon as both a therapist and a clinical supervisor. My approach is grounded in a psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and social justice lens. I’m trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and building healthier relationships with self, body, and others. For couples, I incorporate Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to strengthen connection, communication, and intimacy.

WHO I WORK WITH

My doctoral research was focused on the intersections of sexuality and neurodivergence, and I am a Certified Sex Therapist. Therefore, I enjoy working with individuals and couples exploring areas such as ethical non-monogamy/polyamory, kink, communication challenges, and healing from relational ruptures. I also provide trans-affirming care, including assessments and letters for gender-affirming surgery. I’m passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients, supporting exploration of identity, experiences of oppression, and navigating the impact of current events.

I also specialize in working with individuals navigating eating disorders, an area that often overlaps with my work in sexuality through a shared focus on embodiment, identity, and one’s relationship with the body. I have extensive continuing education and advanced training in the treatment of anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). My work is grounded in a Health at Every Size (HAES)-aligned framework, supporting clients in moving toward recovery without shame or weight-centric goals.

Lastly, as someone with ADHD, I offer both a personal and professional perspective when working with individuals navigating ADHD and autism spectrum differences. I have advanced training and ongoing education in working with both ADHD and ASD across the lifespan, and I integrate practical skill-building with deeper work around identity, masking, burnout, and relational dynamics. My approach centers on helping clients understand and embrace their neurodivergence, build self-compassion, and create systems that align with their unique ways of thinking, processing, and engaging with the world.

If this sounds like a good fit, I’d love to connect and see how we can work together
