Stephanie Graupmann

MA, Professional Counselor Associate

Mental Health Therapist

Therapy is different for every person; there is no cookie-cutter solution that works for everyone. Whatever you are going through, I invite you to bring your whole self. I am committed to providing a safe space to get curious and creative as we work together on a plan of action for you.

My style is adaptive, open-minded, and curious. This comes from moving many, many times in my life and discovering the fascinating uniqueness of each person I encounter. I learned, in real time, to adapt and remain open-minded as I lived and worked in numerous cultures and countries. In the therapeutic relationship, I seek to build a warm, authentic relationship with you, in which we will identify your core values and beliefs. I also believe that as you feel ready and comfortable, we will intuitively find the path toward your goals and intentions.

When I am not working, I enjoy international travel, exploring bookstores and art museums, reading literary fiction, getting outdoors, and following baseball.

CREDENTIALS & APPROACH

I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Portland State University, and I am an associate who is working towards my Licensed Professional Counselor license in the State of Oregon. I have over a decade of experience working with children, teens, families, and adults. In addition to the United States, I have lived and worked in many countries including India, Mexico, Latvia, and Qatar.

My primary approaches are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). ACT focuses on the individual’s core values and beliefs, while CBT looks at the patterns of individual’s thoughts, emotions, and actions. Both can be leveraged to move toward the individual’s goals for lasting change and growth. I also incorporate skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Self Compassion. With younger children and families, I incorporate Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art Therapy, and Gottmans’ Emotion Coaching Therapy to support self-expression and emotional regulation.

WHO I WORK WITH
I work with adults, children (ages 5 and up), adolescents, and families. I am especially passionate about working with people who are: exploring and discovering their identity and values, working to improve interpersonal relationships, and/ or experiencing life transitions (i.e., moving, career change, family separations, etc).

I specialize in:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Neurodiversity affirming support

  • LGBTQIA+ affirming support

  • Life transitions (i.e., moving, career change, family separations, etc)

  • Self-expression and identity develop

Once again, I invite you to take that first step and bring your whole self. I am committed to meeting you with warmth and authenticity, and together we can build a path toward the goals you establish. Reach out through the clinic and schedule an initial appointment! I look forward to hearing all about you.
