Daniel Robancho-Ostrowski
MA, LMFT
Similar to music or film that can capture a specific moment of our lives, I believe that we as individuals, couples, and family systems each carry rich, complex stories. Through the process of exploring these stories and cultivating new meanings of the past, I believe individuals can gain autonomy in the present and strive towards healing and meaningful change.
As a therapist, I seek to create a therapeutic environment that embodies curiosity, trust, and mutual respect. I bring curiosity and a desire to understand my clients within the contexts they live in. By sharing curiosity around how personal, familial, and societal narratives influence the day-to-day lives of my clients, I strive to join with my clients as they intentionally step-aside from patterns of behavior that no longer serve them.
CREDENTIALS & APPROACH
My approach to my work blends Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, and concepts found in the Adaptive Information Processing model (AIP). Narrative therapy seeks to understand the meaning and significance of an individual’s experiences, and how this informs present beliefs and patterns of behavior. Solution Focused Therapy seeks to define and cultivate awareness around what kind of change an individual, couple, or family desires, what steps may be necessary to get there, and most importantly, how will you know that you are experiencing the changes you desire. Lastly, I integrate concepts found within the Adaptive Information Processing Model to provide practical tools and skills to individuals to promote emotional and physical regulation and increase one’s ability to be present and engaged in the moment.
