Ashley Jacobe

MA, Professional Counselor Associate

Mental Health Therapist

Life is full of complex experiences that we all need support for. Reaching out for help during those times is a challenging, brave, and rewarding process, and I would be honored to support you through life’s experiences.

In my practice, I bring an abundance of compassion and empathy. We all have hidden strengths that can be discovered with the proper guidance, and I thrive by working alongside you to utilize, honor, and nurture these parts of you. My time outside of the office is spent adventuring in nature, traveling, and engaging in the fun activities that Portland has to offer.

CREDENTIALS & APPROACH

I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University and am working on my licensure in the state of Oregon. I am currently a Professional Counselor Associate. I have 5 years of clinical experience focused on working with adults, couples, adolescents, families, and children. I have advanced training in ADHD, Autism, anxiety, and Trauma.

My primary approach is Person-Centered Therapy, which means I am here to actively listen to your story, and it is used to guide us through identifying strengths and areas of growth. My other core approach is Internal Family Systems Theory, which is used to guide acknowledging patterns and exploring ways to create sustainable impact. With younger clients, I integrate person-centered therapy with play therapy to engage with children in a space that is safe and approachable. Finally, I integrate skills training from core emotion-supporting modalities of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with children (ages 10 and up), adolescents, adults, and families. I have particular experience supporting LGBTQIA+ youth and their families, and I am affirming of all gender identities and family structures.

I specialize in:

  • Anxiety processing including support skill development, learning to redirect anxious energy and thoughts

  • Depression processing including building self-esteem, developing self-compassion, skill development, learning to understand depressive-based thinking

  • LGBTQIA+ identity development and family acceptance, along with supporting individuals processing gender identity

  • Trauma and grief processing focused on emotional regulation, skill development to support healing, and developing strength-focused views

Each of us are diverse individuals with personal, unique stories. It is these unique aspects of ourselves that make us who we are. Reach out to the clinic if you’d like to schedule an appointment with me!
