My Story
Amy Porturas
MS, PMH-C, LPC
Mental Health Therapist
Hello! I’m happy you’re here and commend you for taking time for yourself and your mental wellness. I believe that every human should have the opportunity to explore the inner workings of their mind and achieve the personal growth they are seeking. I value individual choice and believe in the unique innate strength and intuition each human possesses to support themselves in healing. When working with me, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment. I see it as a privilege and an excitement, to get to walk along someone during their process of self discovery and healing; ultimately achieving a fulfilling livelihood for themselves. I also believe that the relationship I build with my clients is essential to the success of therapy and creating changes that feel effective.
I have worked in a wide range of clinical settings, from a secure residential facility to an outpatient pediatric clinic; and other settings in between. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon since 2018 and have worked in the field for the past 8+ years. I am an Oregon board approved Supervisor Candidate and provide supervision to counseling associates who are seeking licensure. I utilize an eclectic and holistic therapeutic approach, with a foundation of a person centered lens and unconditional positive regard. I strive to support clients in discovering solutions and building skills that are effective and sustainable in their lives. I am also a certified Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner and love working with new parents as they navigate their new roles and cope with the stress of parenthood, and the joys of this journey.
I am also deeply interested in working with different kinds of activists (climate change, social justice, trans rights, animal rights, etc). As an animal rights activist myself, I understand the challenges of navigating systems and managing the all too often disappointments that accompany this work and the importance of caring for ourselves throughout this work.
I look forward to meeting you and developing a working relationship together, as you embark towards personal growth and healing!
